Seven Aquatic-Driven Escapes at Ko Olina for the Adventurer and Serenity-Seeker
Ko Olina was originally part of a royal land division used as a sacred place for rest and relaxation by Hawaiʻiʻs chiefs and royalty. King Kamehameha the Great and Queen Ka‘ahumanu frequented the reef-sheltered coves, now known as Lanikūhonua, or “where heaven meets earth,” while others fished the abundant waters.
Ko Olina Resort captures the essence of wai (water) by taking advantage of the surrounding Pacific Ocean with ocean-centric activities, both on and off property, and numerous pools throughout the resort.
FOR THE ADVENTURER
Guests can find their own Finding Nemo-esque experience among several Ko Olina Marina-based ocean adventure operators. Ocean Joy Cruises, Ko Olina Ocean Adventures and Ko Olina Glass Bottom Boats offer family options to snorkeling sites along Oʻahuʻs westernmost coastline. Guests can capture the playfulness of spinner dolphins; stop at “Turtle Town,” the natural turtle cleaning station; or see beautiful coral gardens and their tropical inhabitants.
Adventure-seekers looking to catch their own dinner can enjoy world-class deep-sea fishing in one of Hawai'i’s richest fishing grounds with a private fishing charter. These charters take passengers to the best spots to catch marlin, ahi (yellowfin tuna) and swordfish.
For a fun workout that doesn’t feel like exercise, guests can head to Ko Olina’s Koholā lagoon for glow-in-the-dark stand-up paddle boarding with Four Seasons.
FOR THOSE SEEKING RELAXATION
Guests need look no further than the Waikolohe Stream (lazy river) at Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa. The stream allows for a chance to unwind and glide through the calm waters.
Choose from four pools at Four Seasons Resort O‘ahu at Ko Olina. The resort doesn’t skimp on the views–the adults-only pool facing the makai (ocean) ensures the perfect view of a colorful west-side sunset.
Hop over to the pools at the Marriott Beach Club. The Moana Pool has a walk-in sand entrance and the Quiet Reflections Pool is the peaceful sanctuary that its name suggests.
While roaming the resort grounds near the Ko Olina Golf Club, guests will see ponds with resident black swans.
